Russia's cryptocurrency industry is expected to establish a legal framework for operation by the end of this year, Bitcoin Magazine reported. Vladimir Chistyukhin, Deputy Governor of the Bank of Russia, stated that cryptocurrency regulations are progressing as scheduled, and relevant sub-regulations and detailed rules could be finalized by the end of 2026. The Bank of Russia has allowed cryptocurrency trading for ordinary investors, enabling them to purchase assets worth up to 300,000 rubles (approximately $3,582) through a single intermediary. No separate limit applies to qualified investors. Sberbank, Russia's largest bank, plans to launch cryptocurrency wallet and custody services in December. However, the use of digital assets as a means of payment or legal tender within Russia remains prohibited. Russia exceptionally permits the use of digital assets solely for international payment purposes.
