David Schwartz, Ripple's Honorary Chief Technology Officer (CTO), announced that the connectivity of the XRP Ledger (XRPL) core hub has rapidly stabilized. He explained that thanks to an unknown cause of stability improvement, the number of active nodes has recaptured 500.
According to U.Today on September 18 (local time), David Schwartz, Ripple's Honorary CTO and XRP Ledger Chief Architect, revealed that the performance of his personal hub node has significantly improved over the past two weeks. Schwartz posted a server telemetry chart on his X (formerly Twitter) account. He stated, "Over the past two weeks, the hub has become much more stable and reliable for reasons unknown," and that peer disconnections have significantly decreased. He added, "I'm not yet sure of the exact cause, but it's welcome news," and "the number of connected peers has once again exceeded 500."
According to the published telemetry chart, the number of peers connected to Schwartz's personal hub node recently recorded 501. This is close to the peak of 509 collected over the two weeks from September 3 to September 17. Previously, the hub experienced temporary communication instability, including a sharp drop in node connections and delayed response times. It has since returned to normal operation without any apparent external patches.
In the XRP Ledger ecosystem, Schwartz's hub serves as a critical relay server for other network nodes to exchange data. Following a manifest flood attack in July that attempted to deplete node resources by distributing a large number of fake certificates, developers deployed an emergency patch. Even after the emergency patch, some connection delays were sporadically observed, but recently, a clear trend of autonomous recovery has been noted.
Schwartz has consistently emphasized that even when node delays occurred in the past, they were merely issues with the overall network communication environment, and there were no problems with the consensus structure itself. The recovery in the number of connected peers and the stabilization of latency are interpreted as evidence that the XRP Ledger's decentralized network has achieved robust resilience after external shocks.
The restoration of core infrastructure stability is expected to positively impact the expansion of XRP Ledger-based decentralized finance and payment networks. With the normalization of large-scale data relay between nodes, the technical reliability of the blockchain for accommodating institutional-grade financial infrastructure is further increasing.
