[Bulletin Board] Korea Customs Service 'Taxpayer Protection Committee' Meeting…Discussion on Reorganization of Rights Protection System

▲ On the 16th, the Korea Customs Service held a meeting with the chairpersons of the Taxpayer Protection Committees of its headquarters and six regional customs offices nationwide to review and discuss plans for reorganizing the taxpayer rights protection system. The Korea Customs Service stated that thanks to measures such as strengthening taxpayers' right to express opinions, institutionalizing the distribution of pre-diagnosis forms for committee member recusal/avoidance, and introducing an online taxpayer protection system, the number of cases processed increased by approximately 42% from 50 in 2023 to 71 last year, and the citation rate rose from 28.0% to 61.9% during the same period. The Korea Customs Service stated, "We plan to build a rights protection system that first examines the difficulties of taxpayers and accompanies them through the entire process."
