Wu Blockchain reported that Malaysia has emerged as one of the most open Islamic markets for cryptocurrencies, based on clear regulations and Sharia standards. The Sharia Advisory Council under the Securities Commission Malaysia has approved major cryptocurrencies such as BTC, ETH, XRP, and XLM as Sharia-compliant assets from 2020 to the first half of 2026. As of mid-2026, there are 10 digital asset operators approved by regulatory authorities. In 2025, the trading volume on regulated exchanges in Malaysia increased by 23% compared to the previous year, surpassing $4 billion. This is approximately 2.5% of the local stock market's trading volume. Support from the banking sector is still limited to transaction-related services for approved operators.
