Amidst the failure of the cloture vote for the CLARITY Act, a bill concerning virtual asset clarity, in the U.S. Senate plenary session, U.S. Republican Senator Cynthia Lummis, a prominent pro-cryptocurrency advocate, stated, "Today, Democratic senators proved that they truly have no interest in consumer protection or maintaining American leadership." She said via X, "While I was sincerely negotiating with Senate Democrats, they played games. They presented demands for over a year, and as soon as we met those demands, they immediately introduced new ones and changed the conditions." She added, "They voted against American leadership and handed over exactly what all foreign competitors, including China, want. Democrats once again prioritized politics over the American people. This is a capitulation not to their leadership, but to their radical socialist base. The Democratic Party is an anti-American party," she pointed out. Meanwhile, Eleanor Terrett, host of the U.S. podcast 'Crypto in America,' reported that "Cynthia Lummis, a key architect of the CLARITY Act, did not even speak with reporters immediately after the vote."
