CNBC host Jim Cramer named CrowdStrike (CRWD) a "must-buy stock" based on AI security threats.
According to crypto media outlet BeInCrypto on September 14 (local time), Cramer shared a post by CrowdStrike founder and CEO George Kurtz regarding artificial intelligence (AI) security, issuing a strong buy recommendation. Kurtz emphasized that it is difficult to slow down the development of AI technology and that it is not enough to just create policy documents; attacks must be blocked in real-time.
Kurtz's remarks were a response to a post by Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, who urged for controlled AI development speed. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman also agreed with this assertion. Amodei suggested that external evaluators, with access to systems similar to internal AI company employees, should be accepted. Anthropic and OpenAI agreed to this approach, but Kurtz pointed out that given the speed of cyberattacks, a delayed response is not an option.
Kurtz stated, "The unit of threat is no longer a hacker. It's an autonomous campaign." He explained that the environment has shifted from individual hackers to multiple AI agents carrying out entire attacks at machine speed. CrowdStrike, in partnership with Nvidia, launched its AI-powered defense system, SafeMind, on September 1. SafeMind is designed to continuously learn from blocked attacks.
Cramer described Kurtz's post as "the most important post you will read regarding a must-buy stock." CrowdStrike's stock price has fallen 6% in the last month but has risen 74.46% since the beginning of 2026. It hit a recent high at the end of August. Record quarterly earnings and increased corporate security budgets drove the surge at that time, and the stock rose 3.86% in after-hours trading following Cramer's remarks.
Regarding the overall stock market, Cramer advised reducing holdings in profitable stocks rather than selling out of fear, stating that the market environment is similar to 2018. However, he maintained a strong buy recommendation for CrowdStrike. He had previously named cybersecurity as one of the key investment themes for 2026 in August.
