"Lowering entry barriers is necessary for new challenges"
Candidate Lee So-young for Minister of SMEs and Startups said on the 15th, "I don't think our society is yet accepting of innovation."
The candidate stated at a parliamentary hearing that day, "While I hope companies like Nvidia or Tesla emerge from South Korea, the reality is an environment where even small innovations like Uber or Tada cannot be accepted." She added, "I believe new things can sprout only if we have an open mind towards change."
She further explained, "I believe lowering the thresholds of various entry regulations is a way to enable new, innovative challenges." She added, "It was from that perspective that I said I would proactively tackle regulatory issues with the mindset of a Minister for Regulatory Reform."
Furthermore, to improve the current social atmosphere, which perceives 'it's not a society where one reaps what one sows,' she emphasized, "I vaguely believe that the answer is to implement policies with a greater understanding of the realities of the socially vulnerable."
