An analysis suggests that XRP may launch a counterattack against Bitcoin (BTC) in September.
According to TheCryptoBasic on September 3 (local time), market analyst EGRAG Crypto suggested that XRP could continue its nearly 4% gain against Bitcoin from August into September. However, he also noted that it could experience a significant correction again in October. XRP/BTC is currently 48% lower than its January 2025 high of 0.00003415.
Past monthly performances show a clear difference between September and October. XRP has historically risen by an average of 17% against Bitcoin in September. In contrast, it has fallen by an average of 19.6% in October. Subsequently, the average rise in November was 30.5%, and in December, it reached 44.1%. EGRAG Crypto highlighted this pattern: a rebound in September, a correction in October, an extended rise in November, and acceleration in December.
October, in particular, has been a challenging month for XRP. XRP/BTC closed lower in 11 out of the most recent 13 Octobers. However, there have been instances where a sharp drop was followed by a strong rebound. In October 2020, it dropped by 22.4% but then surged by 93.8% in November. In 2024, it fell by 24.9% in October but then skyrocketed by 179.2% the following month.
This year's performance clearly shows Bitcoin's dominance. XRP/BTC fell by 0.5% in January, 1.8% in February, 4.4% in March, and 8.8% in April. It rebounded by 1% in May but then slipped again by 2% in June and 4.8% in July. It only broke out of the downtrend in August, rising by approximately 4%.
EGRAG Crypto pointed to the breakthrough of the August high as the next signal. If it surpasses that high, the recovery against Bitcoin could continue into September. However, past statistics do not guarantee the same pattern in 2026. TheCryptoBasic stated that it is necessary to monitor both XRP's prolonged relative underperformance and its August rebound.
