Coinpost reported that the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) utilized the XRP Ledger (XRPL) for a proof-of-concept (PoC) of a blockchain-based system to verify the authenticity of official statistical data. BIS researchers cited XRPL's low fees, fast processing speed, and development environment as reasons for its selection. This system can be used to check for manipulation and the source of official statistics such as GDP, prices, and interest rates. However, this study is a technical verification stage, and BIS has not decided to actually adopt XRPL in its systems.
