Coinbase announced that it will pursue commodity approval from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) as the next step, following its submission of relevant registration documents to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to launch stock perpetual futures trading in the United States. Coinbase Chief Policy Officer (CPO) Faryar Shirzad stated via X, "This week's SEC filing was the first step, and the next step is CFTC commodity approval. As demand for stock perpetual futures has already been confirmed overseas, we look forward to offering them to US investors in a regulated manner." He further emphasized the need for cooperation between the SEC and CFTC for this endeavor.
