Major Layer 1 blockchain MultiversX (EGLD) will implement the 'Supernova' upgrade on the 10th. With this overhaul, block generation time will be significantly reduced from the existing 6 seconds to 0.6 seconds. The core is the restructuring of the consensus mechanism. By introducing parallel transaction processing, the finalization time within a shard will be reduced to less than 0.25 seconds, and inter-shard settlement will also be brought down to the 2.4-second range. At the time of activation, new transaction acceptance will be suspended for approximately 24 minutes (based on the previous 6-second block time) and will enter a queue. As over 95% of more than 5,000 nodes are still running the previous version, the success of the migration will be key to speed improvement.
