Generates details of lighting and object surfaces...to be released on the 4th with RTX 50 series
NVIDIA announced on the 2nd that it will release 'DLSS 5', the latest version of its AI-based image quality improvement technology Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS), on the 4th.
DLSS 5 can run on PCs and laptops equipped with GeForce RTX 50 series GPUs, and will also be available on the cloud gaming platform 'GeForce NOW'.
DLSS 5, fully applied to the basketball game 'NBA 2K27' distributed by 2K, reconstructs the screen in real-time using AI technology, unlike previous versions that merely improved image quality and refresh rate.
In the final rendering process, DLSS 5 uses AI to generate and add rich lighting and object surface details that developers could not previously implement in real-time.
At the same time, it distinguishes between elements that must be maintained and elements that can be changed based on the game engine's frames, and creators making games can directly control the parts reconstructed by AI in detail.
NVIDIA has developed a special small AI model to implement this.
The Tensor Cores in RTX 50 series GPUs directly interpret engine data from rendered frames and render lighting and materials in real-time.
RTX 5090 users can enjoy the ultimate gaming experience in 'NBA 2K27' by utilizing full DLSS technology and playing at up to 370 FPS (frames per second) with DLSS 5, 4K resolution, Ultra preset, and Ray[228670] Tracing settings turned on.
To activate DLSS 5, you must download the new GeForce Game Ready Driver released on September 4th.
