▲ Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH)
Ethereum (ETH) has reached a critical breakthrough test point near 0.028 BTC against Bitcoin (BTC), aiming to break out of a multi-month downtrend.
According to crypto media U.Today on July 5 (local time), major technical buy signals are converging in one area on the ETH/BTC daily chart. Trader CarpeNoctom identified the 0.028 BTC area as a key technical zone.
ETH/BTC moved within a descending Pitchfork channel from late 2025 to the first half of 2026. It is currently testing both the thick red Ichimoku Cloud and the descending trendline near 0.028 BTC. CarpeNoctom described this trendline as 'mega diagonal resistance'.
CarpeNoctom stated, "ETH/BTC is heating up," and "it is approaching a breakout of the Ichimoku Cloud and an exit from the median line of the Pitchfork." He added, "The mega diagonal resistance should also be watched." He emphasized, "As it has been disappointing for several months, I will not touch it until a breakout is confirmed."
The path presented on the chart points to the 0.036 area after a complete breakthrough of the upper Pitchfork channel and the Ichimoku Cloud. The timing is suggested as late summer. Market participants are wary of repeated false breakout signals and failed starts over the past year and are awaiting a definitive breakout signal.
Meanwhile, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin unveiled a development blueprint for 'Lean Ethereum' after the Berlin Research Summit. The four-year upgrade cycle was presented as a multi-year reconstruction phase overhauling the core mechanisms of the protocol.
