The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has requested the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to review two event contract rule proposals. According to CryptoBriefing, these proposals include event contracts in the definition of swaps while separately categorizing casino-style gambling products. The media explained, "The CFTC claims to have exclusive jurisdiction over event contracts under the Commodity Exchange Act and asserts that prediction markets fall under federal, not state, jurisdiction. These rule proposals will serve to strengthen the CFTC's position."
