Elon Musk's electric vehicle company Tesla, which has planned large-scale facility investments, has secured investment capital amounting to 40 trillion won.
Reuters and Bloomberg reported on the 29th (local time) that Tesla disclosed it had entered into a credit agreement worth 30 billion dollars (approximately 40 trillion won).
Of this, 20 billion dollars is a loan that can be drawn later if needed, and the remaining 8 billion dollars (5-year maturity) and 2 billion dollars (1-year maturity) loans are a kind of 'overdraft' concept.
Most of the borrowed funds secured in this way are expected to be used for facility investment.
Beyond just being an automobile company, Tesla has shown interest in humanoid robots and artificial intelligence (AI) fields.
In addition, it has previously announced plans to invest 20 billion dollars within the year to build its autonomous robotaxi (unmanned taxi) 'Cybercab' network and enhance production capabilities.
CEO Musk also said in a conference call immediately after the earnings announcement last July, "We must pour funds into facility investment at the fastest possible speed without waste."
Tesla is also officially launching its electric truck, the Semi, into the market.
This week, 9 years after CEO Musk first unveiled the Semi to the public, deliveries of Semi units to companies will begin at the production plant in Nevada.
With diesel prices in the US hitting an all-time high, the electric truck Semi, which transports cargo over long distances, has been released to the market at an opportune time.
A consortium of shippers, including Pepsi and Microsoft, has already reportedly ordered 2,500 Semis.
