Musk's remarks highlighting China's development level released just before the US-China summit
Chinese state media released a video featuring Tesla CEO Elon Musk praising Chinese President Xi Jinping, ahead of the US-China summit.
CCTV's online platform posted an exclusive interview video of Musk, the world's richest man, on the 23rd.
In the released video, CEO Musk said about President Xi, "He seems to be a great leader," adding, "During his tenure, China has prospered tremendously."
He stated, "This is something I have experienced firsthand," adding, "If you go to China, you can very clearly see how much development is taking place every year, and even within a single year."
He continued, "You can see new buildings and new infrastructure," emphasizing, "Just walking the streets, you can see that the level of prosperity enjoyed by ordinary people in China has increased enormously."
CEO Musk added, "All of this seems to have happened while President Xi was the leader of China," and "He has done a great job and is very capable."
In the interview video released by People's Daily New Media, he also said, "China's infrastructure is objectively better than that of the United States."
The media did not disclose the exact location and date of the interview, only stating that it was a recent interview.
CEO Musk, who operates Tesla's largest production plant, the 'Shanghai Gigafactory', in China, accompanied US President Donald Trump during his visit to China last May.
At that time, he brought his son X, who is known to be 6 years old, to the Great Hall of the People in Beijing where the US-China summit was held, and X wearing a Chinese-style costume became a hot topic.
President Xi, who is currently on a state visit to the United States, is scheduled to hold a summit with President Trump on the 24th (US Eastern Time).
China's official Xinhua News Agency reported that President Trump greeted President Xi and his wife at Washington Airport, saying, "President Xi is a great leader and this is a great moment."
