Under a pilot cryptocurrency regulatory framework, Vietnam plans to issue its first cryptocurrency service provider licenses and allow the operation of digital asset platforms in 2026. The Vietnamese Ministry of Finance and the State Securities Commission (SSC) announced that they are developing a supervisory framework focused on operator oversight, investor asset protection, and anti-money laundering (AML), referencing recommendations from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) and the European Union (EU)'s regulatory model. The Vietnamese Ministry of Finance recently met with the Austrian Financial Market Authority (FMA) and agreed to share financial supervision experiences for new assets such as cryptocurrencies. Both sides also plan to promote cooperation through the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) and hold expert technical meetings.
