Snap (SNAP) is partnering with global big tech companies to launch its augmented reality (AR) glasses, Specs, worth $2,195, into the enterprise market. This move marks an expansion beyond simple consumer information technology (IT) devices, transforming Specs into a hands-free computing platform that innovates work productivity in industrial settings.
According to crypto-focused media outlet Benzinga on September 17 (local time), Snap officially announced that it has entered into enterprise partnerships with Salesforce, Nvidia, and Amazon Web Services (AWS). This collaboration focuses on integrating AI-powered work solutions into Specs glasses to enable workers in various industrial environments, such as factories, retail stores, and field services, to work hands-free.
Each partner company will integrate its core technology into the Specs ecosystem. Salesforce will support its AI agent platform, Agentforce, allowing workers wearing the glasses to search internal data and automate tasks. Nvidia will provide visual AI technology that analyzes a worker's visual environment and retrieves relevant business information in real-time. AWS will offer a voice command AI assistant that can be instructed verbally for tasks like inventory checks.
Snap also unveiled its consumer AI service, Specs Intelligence. This service works not only with Specs glasses but also across iPhones and Mac computers to provide personalized work assistance. Evan Spiegel, CEO of Snap, emphasized, "It's important to understand that Specs is a computer, not just smart glasses for taking photos."
Specs is currently accepting pre-orders for $2,195, along with a refundable deposit of $200. Official shipments are expected to begin this fall in the United States, United Kingdom, and France. It remains to be seen whether the establishment of a strong collaborative front with big tech companies can become a turning point in popularizing AR devices within the enterprise market.
