"AI investment demand confirmed worldwide"
Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, announced on the 17th (local time) that the company's chip sales would double next year compared to this year.
Before the Scotland Artificial Intelligence (AI) Summit hosted by King Charles III of the United Kingdom, CEO Huang told reporters, "Nvidia expects to sell twice as many chips next year as this year," U.S. business broadcaster CNBC reported.
CEO Huang added, "The reason is that AI contributes greatly to many industries and economies, and we can see that people in almost every country we operate in want to invest in AI."
Nvidia previously raised market expectations on August 26th, through its second-quarter (May-July) earnings announcement, by projecting that its revenue for fiscal year 2028 (ending January 2028) would reach approximately $673 billion, a 70% increase year-over-year.
CEO Huang's latest statement is based on sales volume, not revenue, and may differ from revenue growth rates when considering price differences between products. Nvidia does not disclose its total chip sales volume.
In addition to graphics processing units (GPUs) for data centers, the company produces central processing units (CPUs), chips for switches and optical networking, chips for laptops, and Jetson chips for robots and automobiles.
CEO Huang previously stated that 6 million Blackwell GPUs were shipped over four quarters in October last year.
The meeting was a forum to discuss AI safety issues, attended by CEO Huang and Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis, among others. CEO Huang said, "Those of us building AI must rigorously test our systems. When they are not safe enough, we must hold them back."
