The number of consents for a National Assembly petition to postpone virtual asset (digital asset) taxation for two years has exceeded 40,000. Currently, the number of consents is 40,336, recording 81% of the 50,000 quorum for National Assembly petitions. If the quorum is met by September 20, the petition will be referred to the relevant standing committee. This petition proposes a two-year postponement of taxation because a sharp drop in exchange revenue due to the implementation of digital asset taxation could lead to a sharp drop in corporate tax revenue. Previously, a petition advocating for the abolition of taxation was referred to the standing committee in May after exceeding 50,000 consents. Currently, the government insists on the normal implementation of taxation in January 2027, while the People Power Party opposes it due to a lack of infrastructure.
