Despite warnings of short-term volatility, a bullish forecast has emerged that Bitcoin (BTC) could rise to $150,000 by year-end.
On September 2nd (local time), the cryptocurrency-specialized YouTube channel Altcoin Daily featured the Bitcoin buying strategy of Strategy CEO Phong Le in a video. Le stated, "We are net buyers" and have no plans to sell Bitcoin for the time being. He mentioned that they could continue buying even at $80,000, $90,000, and $100,000. He emphasized that there's a high possibility of further buying even if Bitcoin breaks its all-time high at $130,000.
A short-term risk factor cited was the conflict between the United States and Iran. The video reported that Brent crude oil surpassed $95 after the US strike on Iran. Iran stated it would attack US bases and interests with missiles and drones. The possibility of a Federal Reserve (Fed) interest rate hike in September, as presented in the video, was 60%. The host warned that market volatility could increase ahead of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC).
Tom Lee, Head of Research at Fundstrat, stated, "150,000 dollars is still possible." Lee cited increased institutional allocation to cryptocurrency funds and the end of the four-year cycle as major catalysts for the rise. He also explained that the cryptocurrency trading volume of Korean investors, who had moved to AI-related assets earlier this year, is increasing again. He predicted that if the US cryptocurrency market structure bill passes, Bitcoin and Ethereum (ETH) could see a strong fourth quarter.
Changes in the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) policy were also presented as a bullish factor. SEC Commissioner Paul Atkins stated that regulations are being modernized to reflect the use of blockchain technology in the process of securities issuance and stock transfers. Atkins explained that the shift is away from enforcement-centric regulation towards embracing innovative technologies. The video also mentioned that Solana (SOL)'s non-vote transactions in August reached a record high of 5.2 billion.
Macroeconomic expert and investment strategist Lyn Alden expressed optimism for Bitcoin's outlook over the next 2-3 years. Alden analyzed that Bitcoin's upward momentum slowed as investment funds were dispersed into altcoins, crypto financial firms, and AI stocks. On the other hand, she positively assessed the influx of new investors through ETFs and crypto financial firms. She stated, "I am quite optimistic about Bitcoin from a 2-3 year perspective."
