XRP (Ripple) has sharply dropped more than 70% from its peak, but there is a forecast that it could reach $5 in the next bull market, leveraging the resolution of regulatory uncertainty and a spot ETF.
According to cryptocurrency specialized media Watcher.Guru on July 29 (local time), XRP experienced extreme price volatility over the past six years due to the lawsuit between the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Ripple. Its upward momentum was limited from the end of 2020 to the end of 2024, but after the lawsuit concluded, it renewed its all-time high at $3.65 in July 2025. Subsequently, as the bear market continued, the price dropped by more than 70% from its peak.
The media cited regulatory clarity as the next driving force for XRP's rise. The SEC filed a lawsuit, claiming that Ripple sold unregistered securities, which prevented XRP from renewing its all-time high even during the 2021 bull market. Subsequently, a U.S. court ruled that XRP sales to individual investors were not subject to securities law, but sales to institutional investors constituted securities. This decision largely resolved regulatory uncertainty, leading XRP to record a new all-time high in 2025.
An XRP spot ETF was also presented as a key factor to support the challenge to $5. Although several XRP spot ETFs were launched by the end of 2025, the influence of the current ETF market is limited due to the ongoing cryptocurrency bear market. The media predicted that if the market recovers, ETFs would regain attention and expand institutional capital inflows.
The analysis suggests that if regulatory clarity and ETF capital inflows strengthen simultaneously, conditions could be created for XRP to rise to $5 in the next bull market. This level surpasses the previous all-time high of $3.65, but the specific timing of the rise is assessed to depend on the cyclical flow of the virtual asset market.
Bitcoin (BTC) has shown an approximate 4-year cycle, recording new highs in 2017, 2021, and 2025. If this trend continues, the next bull market could peak in 2029, with a full-fledged rally potentially starting in mid-2027.
