A security warning has been issued to the community, urging caution against potential misuse by third parties, as the old official domain of the Shiba Inu (SHIB) metaverse has expired.

According to The Crypto Basic, a cryptocurrency specialized media outlet, on July 9 (local time), Shiba Inu community elder Mazrael stated that the ShibTheMetaverse.io domain, which was used by the Shiba Inu metaverse project, has expired. This address is no longer owned or managed by the Shiba Inu project operators.

The expired domain can be purchased by anyone. Mazrael warned, “In the future, content appearing on that domain should not be considered associated with the Shiba Inu ecosystem,” adding, “A third party can purchase or use the domain.”

The Shiba Inu ecosystem is being reorganized to move away from individual project-specific website operations and instead use Shib.io as a unified portal. Mazrael explained that the Shiba Inu metaverse will also be offered again through Shib.io in the future, simplifying user access by consolidating ecosystem services under a single official domain.

It was also explained that metaverse development has not been halted. Mazrael stated that although there haven't been many public announcements, the project's Git repository was updated a week ago, indicating that development work is ongoing. Shib.io is also expected to serve as the official access point for major Shiba Inu products, undergoing user interface improvements as part of the ecosystem reorganization.

The Shiba Inu community has repeatedly been targeted by impersonations of the development team, fake airdrops, and fraudulent website attacks in the past. As the old metaverse domain, no longer under the Shiba Inu team's management, could fall into the hands of a third party, a security warning has been issued to the community not to mistake that address for an official website.
