Prediction markets were a major topic of discussion at the hearing. Ted Cruz said, "We want athletes to compete on skill. However, the opportunity to make money can tempt gamblers and athletes alike." He explained, "NBA players and coaches are facing allegations related to manipulating performance and providing inside information. There are suspicions that pitching motions were intentionally manipulated for money."
