Hester Peirce, a commissioner of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) who has served as an advocate in the cryptocurrency industry, earning her the nickname 'Crypto Mom,' will step down from her position in November, BeInCrypto reported. Peirce has been appointed as an associate professor at Regent University School of Law in the U.S. Peirce joined the SEC in January 2018 and has criticized the enforcement actions of former SEC Chair Gary Gensler, who was critical of cryptocurrencies. Currently, the SEC is operating with a three-member commission due to the recent resignation of a Democratic commissioner. The outlet added that the direction of the regulatory environment could be determined by how the White House fills Peirce's successor's position.
