Cardano (ADA) Web3 wallet Lace has implemented a series of feature improvements ahead of a major hard fork. This update focused on enhancing the stability and usability of the Lace 2.0 extension, which allows users to manage Cardano, Midnight, and Bitcoin (BTC) in a single environment.
U.Today reported on May 10 (local time) that Lace has applied several improvement updates over the past few weeks. Lace 2.0 is a Web3 wallet designed to allow users to manage Cardano, Midnight, and Bitcoin assets in one place without having to switch between multiple wallets or interfaces.
The Lace team recently shared details about the Lace 2.0 update via X (formerly Twitter). Version 2.0.3 fixed issues where some users saw a white screen and could not complete migration or connect to DApps. Exceptional cases where some existing wallets imported from Nami failed to upgrade from Lace v1 to v2 were also resolved.
This version also improved the DApp connector display function and overall stability. Measures to reduce user inconvenience when using the wallet, such as the addition of faster and clearer loading display functions, were also reflected.
Furthermore, Lace 2.0.4 introduced a default view mode. Users can switch between the side panel and tab screen, and an automatic fallback function is applied if needed. An auto-lock timer was added to the wallet settings to reduce repetitive password entries. Missing translations in some Spanish and Japanese labels were also corrected.
This wallet update is notable as it coincides with Cardano's preparation for protocol version 11 hard fork. Cardano is preparing for an intra-era hard fork to enhance Plutus performance, ledger consistency, and node security. This hard fork, called the Van Rossem hard fork, will proceed without an era transition to reduce integration burden.
The Van Rossem hard fork introduces enhanced primitives, VRF key uniqueness, and reference input rule updates. This upgrade is expected to take place in late June 2026, and Cardano Node version 11.0.1 was recently released as a pre-release. This version was presented as a prerequisite for safely passing the hard fork.
In the Cardano ecosystem, Leios prototype development is also ongoing. The consensus team is developing the Leios prototype as part of Treasury Funding Initiative 4, and after several bug fixes, the system reliability team has launched the Leios testnet.
