▲ B3/Source: Upbit Korea X
In the midst of a bear market, B3 alone surged over 100%, once again bringing the so-called 'Upbit listing effect' to the forefront of the market.
According to CoinMarketCap, a cryptocurrency market aggregation site, on May 8 (local time), B3 traded at $0.00169, having surged 133.47% in 24 hours. The reason B3 performed uniquely even as the overall cryptocurrency market showed weakness was the listing of the B3-KRW trading pair on Upbit, Korea's largest exchange.
The key catalyst for this surge was Upbit's listing of the B3-KRW trading pair on May 7, 2026. As a channel for domestic individual investors to directly purchase with KRW opened, new liquidity rapidly flowed in, and the market saw what was described as a typical 'Upbit pump'. However, this was interpreted as a price reaction due to increased accessibility and liquidity rather than a change in the project's fundamentals.
A surge in trading volume also fueled the upward trend. B3's 24-hour trading volume increased by 252%, exceeding $307 million, and its turnover rate soared to 3.92. This indicates that trading was extremely active relative to its market capitalization, a common pattern when an asset with low circulating supply receives a liquidity shock from being listed on a major exchange.
The short-term price movement has already shown signs of overheating. B3 surged at one point to around $0.0022 before retreating to its current price, indicating that initial profit-taking has occurred. While the upward trend itself is maintained, there is also an assessment that it is overextended in the short term.
The key going forward is whether the $0.0015 level can be sustained. If it holds this price level, B3 could consolidate recent gains and take a breather. Conversely, if this line breaks, short-term buying pressure could quickly exit, raising the possibility of a retracement extending to around $0.0010. The market is watching whether trading volume will be sustained over the next 48 hours or if speculative fervor will cool down.
