A lower court ruled that the 'global 10% tariff' mobilized by US President Donald Trump to replace the reciprocal tariffs, which had been ruled illegal, is also not lawful.
The US Court of International Trade, consisting of three judges, ruled on the 7th (local time) that the 10% global tariffs newly imposed by the Trump administration on all trade partners worldwide are not justified under Article 122 of the Trade Act.
Previously, after the Supreme Court ruled in February that the imposition of reciprocal tariffs (country-specific tariffs) based on the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) was illegal, President Trump imposed a 10% global tariff on various countries worldwide under Article 122 of the Trade Act as a 'substitute tariff'.
