Upbit has officially embarked on its global market expansion, spearheaded by its Web3 infrastructure 'GIWA'.
According to the industry on May 4, Dunamu, which operates Upbit, will participate in 'Consensus 2026' held in Miami, USA, to showcase its Web3 infrastructure 'GIWA' on the global stage. Consensus is the largest event where blockchain developers, policymakers, and investors from around the world gather, and it will take place from May 5 to 7.
At this event, the Upbit GIWA team will operate an exclusive booth to introduce the overall Web3 ecosystem. The strategy is to secure global developers by emphasizing user-friendly infrastructure that lowers entry barriers based on its interoperability with Upbit.
GIWA is an integrated infrastructure equipped with various core functions, including the high-performance Layer 2 chain 'GIWA Chain', 'GIWA Wallet', on-chain verification record system 'Dojang', privacy technology 'Bojagi', and Web3 naming service 'UP.ID'. It is particularly characterized by a structure that simultaneously targets financial institution-level security and user convenience.
Taking Consensus as an opportunity, Upbit will also unveil its DApp developer support program, 'GASOK'. This program selects projects based on the GIWA ecosystem and provides technical consulting and development funds, which is considered a key growth strategy to promote the influx of global developers.
Furthermore, Upbit is strengthening its technological competitiveness by signing a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Optimism, a leading Ethereum Layer 2 project. Both companies plan to collaborate on expanding the GIWA ecosystem through stabilizing sequencer operations, building backup infrastructure, and sharing global partner networks. Upbit's strategy is to accelerate the expansion of global partnerships and secure leadership in Web3 infrastructure starting from this event.
Jeong Min-seok, Upbit's Chief Operating Officer (COO), stated, “Through Consensus 2026, we are directly showcasing GIWA's technology and vision. We will expand contact points with global developers and build a Web3 ecosystem that anyone can easily use.”
