Of this, roughly $15.2 billion and over 450 incidents occurred in the most recent five years alone (2021-2026), indicating a concentration of damages. Notably, the damages for the past year alone were estimated at approximately $2.5 billion (over 140 incidents). DefiLlama explained that recent hacking trends are shifting from smart contract vulnerabilities to private key theft and failures in access control management.
