Paul Sztorc, the developer who first proposed the Bitcoin sidechain 'Drivechain', announced via his X (formerly Twitter) that a new Bitcoin hard fork 'eCash' will be launched in August. He explained, "Through this hard fork, Bitcoin holders will receive an equal amount of coins. For example, a holder of 4.19 BTC will receive 4.19 eCash." He added, "eCash's Layer 1 node is close to a copy of Bitcoin Core and is mined using the SHA-256d method. In terms of code, it will maintain compatibility with Bitcoin Core," and "We also plan to launch the sidechain 'Drivechain' to introduce programming capabilities to Bitcoin."
