As the European Union (EU) consumer authorities launched an investigation into in-game paid item sales practices, Decrypt reported that alternative payment methods, such as cryptocurrencies utilizing cryptographic technology, were excluded from the investigation. The authorities conducted investigations targeting 10 game companies, including Activision Blizzard, Riot Games, Supercell, and Ubisoft.
