The Korean Red Cross announced on the 30th that high-value donor Kim Geo-seok donated 6,000 shares of Unusual Machines (UMAC), a US defense tech company.
The 6,000 shares of UMAC are equivalent to approximately 200 million Korean Won.
The shares donated by Mr. Kim will be converted into cash and used for the Red Cross's humanitarian projects.
The Red Cross stated that the total of 1.4 billion KRW previously donated by Mr. Kim was also used for various humanitarian projects, including supporting medically vulnerable groups, aiding victims of heavy rainfall in Korea, and overseas disaster relief.
Mr. Kim, a member of the 'Red Cross Honors,' a group of high-value donors of the Red Cross, has a cumulative donation amount of 1.6 billion KRW to the Red Cross, including this overseas stock donation.
He became the 283rd member of the Red Cross Honors Club by donating 100 million KRW in December 2024, and then pledged a 1 billion KRW donation in January of the following year, becoming the first member of the 'Red Cross Honors 1 Billion Club'.
In August last year, he donated 1 Bitcoin (BTC), becoming known as the first high-value digital asset donor in Korea. Since then, he has also donated virtual assets such as Bitcoin and Ripple to various organizations.
Mr. Kim said, "I continue to donate with the intention of giving back to society the results obtained through investment," adding, "I believe that donation is ultimately an investment in creating a better society."
