The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Regional Investigation Unit announced that it has refunded approximately 26.3 billion won in voice phishing damage money, which had been frozen in the top five virtual asset exchanges in Korea, to about 1,100 victims. According to KBS News, the police explained that in early 2023, they confirmed that a large sum of damage money was frozen in virtual asset accounts that had been used for voice phishing crimes and had their transactions suspended. They then tracked the flow of funds for over a thousand frozen exchange accounts and about 160,000 bank accounts to identify the victims.
