Optimization work by developers utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) coding tools has led to a 79% reduction in the transaction cost of quantum-resistant Bitcoin (BTC). The computational cost has significantly decreased from the previous $320 to approximately $66. This greatly increases the feasibility of emergency defense measures against future quantum computer threats.
According to BeInCrypto, a virtual asset and financial media outlet, on September 24 (local time), the computational processing speed improved by approximately 6 times in the Quantum-Resistant Bitcoin Optimization Challenge hosted by StarkWare in collaboration with Yukon Research and Eigen Labs. Many of the 62 accepted submissions integrated AI coding tools to resolve bottlenecks in GPU search algorithms.
Quantum-Resistant Bitcoin (QSB) is an experimental technology that protects assets by applying hash-based cryptography without existing consensus rules or soft forks. When the first transaction was processed on August 26, it required approximately 3,100 hours of GPU computation, with a computational cost of about $320 per single transaction. However, based on Nvidia RTX 4090, the candidate verification speed soared from 146 million cases per second to over 880 million cases, reducing the cost to around $66.
This cost reduction is an estimate of pure GPU computational costs and excludes network fees. Experts evaluate that while this method is not a commercial solution for everyday wallets, it can function as a low-cost emergency response measure to protect assets in the event of a quantum computer attack.
As the development speed of quantum computers accelerates, the construction of security defenses in the cryptocurrency ecosystem is also picking up pace. Market attention is focused on how quantum-resistant technology, with its significantly reduced emergency defense costs, will strengthen Bitcoin's long-term security framework.
