Digital Asset reported that it has been pointed out that the government still categorizes virtual asset (digital asset) companies with entertainment and speculative industries, thus not recognizing related research institutes. According to data submitted by Democratic Party lawmaker Hwang Jung-ah from the Ministry of Science and ICT on the 23rd, the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) has designated 'blockchain-based digital asset trading and brokerage' as an industry excluded from recognition as a corporate research institute. It was revealed that MSIT has not improved regulations regarding the 'entertainment and speculative' classification of related industries even after being pointed out by the National Assembly. According to the data submitted by MSIT to Rep. Hwang, MSIT stated in March that it would complete the amendment of the enforcement decree to switch 'blockchain-based digital asset trading and brokerage' to an industry eligible for corporate research institute recognition within the first half of the year. However, the enforcement decree was not amended within the first half, and MSIT changed its stance, stating it would amend the enforcement decree by the end of the year, Rep. Hwang pointed out.
