The proportion of banks among crypto asset service providers registered under the European Union's (EU) crypto regulation MiCA has expanded to 23%. According to Cointelegraph, the number of banks registered on the MiCA Virtual Asset Service Provider (CASP) list doubled from approximately 40 to 80 between June 26 (local time) and September 16. During the same period, the total number of registered CASPs increased from 243 to 349. Data shows that the proportion of non-bank operators decreased from approximately 84% at the end of June to 77% in September, while the proportion of banks expanded from 17% to 23%. The media explained, "As the MiCA regulatory framework takes root, European banks are accelerating their entry into the cryptocurrency market."
