US Democratic Senator Elissa Slotkin announced via X that she voted against a procedural vote to advance the Clarity Act in the Senate. Senator Slotkin cited insufficient ethics provisions addressing cryptocurrency conflicts of interest for public officials as her reason for opposing. She stated, "Considering the cryptocurrency-related interests of President Trump, his family, and administration officials, the current bill does not sufficiently restrict them. National security regulations to block illicit financial flows linked to money laundering, terrorist financing, and countries like North Korea and Iran also need to be further strengthened. Furthermore, regulatory authority and personnel necessary for relevant agencies like the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to enforce the bill have not been adequately secured."
