A trading expert analyzing technical patterns has presented a specific timeline for Tesla's stock price to plummet over 30% to $250 before returning to a long-term uptrend.
According to crypto media outlet Finbold on September 15 (local time), TradingShot analyzed that based on Tesla's technical structure on the weekly chart, the stock price could retreat to the $250 level by early January 2027. With Tesla currently trading around the $358 mark and approaching a key resistance level near $460 on the weekly chart, the explanation is that a significant correction, approximately a 31% drop from the current price, will occur before a long-term buying opportunity forms, considering historical price patterns and Fibonacci extensions analysis.
The expert diagnosed that Tesla's recent stock price movement is very similar to the cyclical pattern observed between 2015 and 2019. At that time, Tesla rebounded towards the resistance line, then fell below the 0.382 Fibonacci retracement level, and eventually repeated a cyclical pattern of bottoming out near the long-term moving average. This analysis points to the 6th and 7th Fibonacci time extensions as the period for the next major low, predicting that the stock will bottom out at $250, near the weekly 200-day moving average (MA), and then resume its original long-term uptrend.
The weekly Relative Strength Index (RSI) indicator also supports this technical correction forecast. In the past, Tesla's stock provided the strongest long-term buying opportunities when the weekly RSI fell below 30, signaling an oversold condition, and a similar signal is expected to appear during this correction process. The expert also presented a long-term optimistic outlook, suggesting that after the correction is complete, Tesla could enter a new expansion phase, surpassing the previous cycle high to soar above $560.
On the other hand, from a corporate fundamentals perspective, positive factors and regulatory risks coexist, contrasting with the bearish technical outlook. Tesla is launching commercial Cybercab robotaxi operations in Austin, Texas, and is pursuing the expansion of its autonomous driving business, preparing for a vote on Full Self-Driving (FSD) technology approval in Europe and the unveiling of the new Roadster in October. Furthermore, it continued to grow in the energy storage and autonomous driving sectors by producing approximately 860,000 units and delivering 838,000 units during the first half of 2026, but recent investigations by U.S. safety regulators into the Cybercab certification process are burdening investor sentiment with policy uncertainties.
