While SpaceX's (SpaceX) stock price remains at $151.21, Wall Street's average target price for 2027 exceeds $220, with the highest forecast reaching $450. However, analysis suggests that for a surge capable of doubling a $1,000 investment to materialize, the core Starship spacecraft's ability for repeated launches and low-cost reusability must be proven.
According to crypto media outlet Watcher.Guru on September 14 (local time), SpaceX's stock price rose by approximately 2% in a day to $151.21, trading about $3 higher than Thursday's closing price of $148.18. Pivotal Research Group initiated coverage on SpaceX this month, issuing a Buy rating and a year-end 2027 target price of $220. This calculation suggests an upside potential of approximately 49% from the current stock price.
The average 2027 target price provided by 36 analysts tracked by S&P Global is $220.68. The forecast range is wide, from a low of $117 to a high of $450. Jeffrey Wlodarczak of Pivotal Research believes that whether Starship can fly 20-50 times per vehicle and be quickly serviced at low cost between launches will be a key variable for the company's future valuation.
Bullish forecasts also reflect the potential for building space-based artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure. Bernstein anticipates that increased reusability of Starship will lower the cost of sending computing equipment into space, enabling SpaceX to build full-fledged orbital AI infrastructure. While Bernstein set a target price of $248, aerospace analyst Douglas Harned maintained a cautious stance, stating that he has not yet seen actual performance to support this.
The current stock price reflects both expectations and risk factors simultaneously. SpaceX has fallen from its post-IPO high of $225.64 to the $150 range, with a 52-week trading range of $104.83 to $225.64. Its market capitalization is approximately $1.99 trillion, but its earnings per share (EPS) for the last 12 months is -$1.10, still indicating a loss. Pivotal Research projects SpaceX's revenue to increase from approximately $46.6 billion in 2026 to $118.2 billion in 2027.
Ultimately, the key to SpaceX's investment performance in 2027 will be how quickly Starship's reusability technology scales in actual operation. While Wall Street's average target price is significantly higher than the current stock price, for a $1,000 investment to double, the stock price would need to rise to approximately $302.42. The media outlet predicts that until Starship proves its repeated flight capability, SpaceX investments will heavily depend not only on stock price forecasts but also on technological achievements.
