Date app operator Grindr Inc. (GRND) ranked second in revenue per employee, following NVIDIA Corp. (NVDA).
According to Benzinga on September 12 (local time), Grindr's revenue per employee was tallied at $3 million. Meta Platforms Inc. (META) and Apple Inc. (AAPL) each recorded $2.5 million. Alphabet Inc. (GOOGL) posted $2.1 million. Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) recorded $1.5 million.
Tesla Inc. (TSLA) had revenue per employee of $704,000. Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN) only reached $455,000. The only company with higher revenue per employee than Grindr was NVIDIA, which recorded $5.1 million. Even compared to the world's largest tech companies, Grindr's revenue per employee stands out.
Grindr has 15 million monthly active users and 1.4 million paid subscribers. It also operates Grindr Unlimited, priced at $27.99 per week, and Grindr Edge, priced at $350 per month. Its revenue in 2025 was $439.9 million. The company projected its 2026 revenue to exceed $540 million.
Data analyst Simon Kuestenmacher compared Grindr's high revenue per employee to that of big tech companies. He stated, “Helping gay men date is more profitable than selling electric vehicles, delivering goods to your doorstep, providing email services, selling office software, or making iPhones.” Unlike big tech companies that operate large-scale manufacturing facilities or logistics networks, Grindr's business primarily revolves around digital subscription services.
Grindr CEO George Arison announced plans to enhance business efficiency by leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and high-priced subscription products. Arison stated, “Grindr has 180 employees,” and added, “I believe we can operate with fewer people over time.” He described the new product targeting high-income users as “a social club for modern gay men.”
