It has been confirmed through documents obtained via the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) that the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) approved at least three secret investigations into alleged insider trading on the prediction platform Polymarket. According to Wired, the CFTC approved investigations in May into a Biden administration pardon contract where one trader made over $300,000 in profit, and 'Iran War' contracts by suspicious accounts that profited $2.4 million with a 98% win rate. Subsequently, in July, the investigation expanded to Google-related contracts concerning allegations of using non-public information about Google search rankings in 2025, and the Southern District of New York also launched a parallel investigation. Polymarket stated its intention to fully cooperate with the investigative authorities.
