Ripple is expanding its business beyond cryptocurrency payments into the artificial intelligence market for corporate fund management.
According to Benzinga on September 11 (local time), Ripple has expanded the functions of gSmart, an AI system integrated into Ripple Treasury. gSmart supports fund forecasting, liquidity management, risk management, reconciliation, and reporting. Ripple explained that it designed gSmart to help corporate clients make fund management decisions faster while maintaining internal controls and audit procedures.
The key is that AI does not move money independently. gSmart analyzes data and presents recommendations based on the fund management policies set by the company. Each AI agent reviews its assigned tasks, proposes necessary actions, and provides relevant internal policies. Final approval from the person in charge is required for actual fund execution.
Renaat Ver Eecke, Senior Vice President of Ripple Treasury, stated, “Instead of asking customers to blindly trust the AI system, we transparently present recommendations within each company's fund management policies.” Market research firm Gartner predicts that by 2028, one Fortune 500 company could use an average of more than 150,000 AI agents. However, only 13% of companies were evaluated as having sufficient AI management systems.
Actual usage by corporate clients is also increasing. According to Ripple, 60% of eligible clients use risk analysis features, and 44% use fund forecasting features. The company is expanding gSmart as part of its strategy to handle fund management for traditional financial assets and digital assets on a single platform.
Ripple also unveiled Knowledge Studio, where companies can set AI behavior standards and internal control rules. Analytics Studio features Ask GSmart, a conversational function that answers questions based on corporate financial data. Ripple's corporate business, which was payment-centric, is now expanding into a financial infrastructure that combines fund management and AI.
