CoinDesk reported that a British investor, who believed he had lost his Bitcoin due to an exchange closure in 2012, recovered his assets after approximately 14 years by proving ownership. The BTC investment, which was approximately $2,000 (2.7 million won) at the time, has now grown to an estimated $4.5 million (6 billion won). The media outlet explained, "The investor, known by the pseudonym 'Chris,' purchased approximately $2,000 worth of BTC in December 2011 through the British cryptocurrency exchange Britcoin. Britcoin later transitioned to Intersango, ceased trading at the end of 2012, and terminated its services in early 2014. Recently, British law firm CEL Solicitors utilized cryptocurrency tracking software to discover a wallet believed to be associated with former Intersango users. It was identified that the wallet currently holds over 5,500 BTC (valued at $421 million). Chris had purchased BTC at less than $4 per coin at the time, and the current value of his recovered assets amounts to approximately $4.5 million." In connection with this, British law firm CEL Solicitors stated that other Intersango customers might also have a chance to recover their assets if they can prove their past BTC purchase and holding history.
