The Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) of the U.S. Treasury Department announced that cryptocurrency fraud cases totaling $12.7 billion have been identified as being linked to overseas organizations. According to Cointelegraph, this is the result of an analysis of over 33,000 suspicious cryptocurrency fraud reports received between September 2023 and December 2025, revealing that financial transactions worth $12.7 billion were related to fraud. The agency explained that a significant portion of these are believed to be perpetrated by transnational criminal organizations operating from crime complexes in the Southeast Asian region.
