A Michigan court has issued a preliminary injunction ordering the prediction market platform Kalshi to continue blocking in-state users from betting on sports event contracts. According to The Block, this order converts a temporary restraining order (TRO) issued in June into a preliminary injunction, which will remain in effect while the related lawsuit proceeds. Consequently, Kalshi must use a geolocation-based blocking system to prevent Michigan residents and in-state users from betting on sports event contracts. Violation of the order could result in a fine of $500,000 per day.
