According to Cointelegraph, the cryptocurrency perpetual futures trading volume on centralized exchanges (CEX) fell to $4 trillion in July, recording its lowest level since December 2023. Futures trading volume showed a temporary recovery between April and June this year but turned to a decline again across major exchanges in July. As the futures market cooled, spot trading also contracted. According to Coinglass data, the global average daily spot trading volume of virtual assets decreased by 23.6% from $17.8 billion to $13.6 billion between July 1st and 31st. The perpetual futures market on decentralized exchanges (DEX) also showed weakness. According to DeFiLlama data, DEX perpetual futures trading volume in July dropped to $531 billion, marking its lowest level since June 2025, which is approximately a 21% decrease compared to June ($676 billion).
