Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and XRP whales are increasing their holdings as if betting on the tail end of a bear market.
BeInCrypto reported on August 6 (local time), citing CryptoQuant data, that major cryptocurrency large holders have started accumulating. This analysis suggests that as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and XRP prices hover near or below their realized prices, whales are absorbing the supply. CryptoQuant assessed this trend as a signal indicating the “final stage of the bear market.”
The holdings in Bitcoin whale wallets, excluding exchanges and mining pools, have increased to approximately 3.06 million BTC. This is still short of the approximately 3.23 million BTC recorded at the peak of the 2025 bull market, indicating room for further accumulation.
In Ethereum, mega-whales holding over 100,000 ETH have added approximately 1.8 million ETH since mid-2025. The increase rate in holdings reached about 70%. In contrast, the volume held by wallets with 1,000 ETH to 10,000 ETH decreased from 15.6 million ETH in January to 12.9 million ETH. XRP order sizes also remained at whale levels, and Binance inflows dropped to an all-time low.
Evaluation indicators also pointed to signals of the latter half of a bear market. Bitcoin's realized price was tallied at $52,900, and XRP at approximately $0.75. Ethereum remained below its realized price of about $2,450. CryptoQuant classified this range as the latter half of a bear market, where historical undervaluation has occurred.
Whale accumulation alone does not confirm a market bottom. CryptoQuant stated that while the risk-reward has significantly improved, the possibility of further downside remains. Glassnode also assessed, “Bottom signals are gathering, but not yet complete.”
