According to the Financial Times (FT), the European Union (EU) financial regulators warned investors to be aware of the increasing cryptocurrency scams that exploit the MiCA (Markets in Crypto-Assets) licensing scheme. It has been reported that fraudsters are targeting users of crypto asset service providers that are terminating or withdrawing services due to MiCA implementation, impersonating financial authorities or officially authorized companies, and circulating fake notices and phishing sites claiming that "assets must be transferred to an authorized account" or that "urgent identity verification (KYC) is required." On July 1, the EU halted the operations of crypto asset service providers that had not obtained a license following the end of the MiCA transition period. Regulators emphasized that scams targeting users' asset transfer procedures are spreading during this process and that users must verify the authenticity of official announcements.
