Researchers at the National Police University, under China's Ministry of Public Security, have developed a detection algorithm framework that combines artificial intelligence (AI) and large language models (LLM) to identify illegal money laundering and economic crimes based on virtual assets like Bitcoin with approximately 90% accuracy, the South China Morning Post reported. According to China's Supreme People's Procuratorate, a total of 3,259 people were indicted on charges of money laundering using virtual assets and underground finance in 2025 alone.
